Don't Want to Speak Too Soon

Yesterday was a much better day with Makenna. I really tried to stay calm all day and speak with her about her decisions. We still had some squabbles, but that is to be expected! I am hoping things continue to keep getting better!

I've learned since having Rachel, that it really is all about OUR attitude, not so much theirs. It is hard to stay calm and in control (especially when they're telling you that you ruined their life or you're the meanest mommy EVER!), but if we stay calm, they're more likely to calm down after a few minutes...hours...days :) You're doing a great job! I think the first child is harder because they're kind of like your guinea pig. Every stage with them is a first for you and you're trying to figure out the best game plan. The second isn't as hard because you've already gone through that stage and know how to deal with it, even if you have to kind of tweak it for that specific child.

Ok...I'll shut up. That's a long enough comment.

I am so glad you had a good day with Makenna. The saying that "Being a mom is the hardest job there is on earth" is soooooo true... One thing I used to do when my kids were little was leave primary music playing all day to help the kids feel peace and calm themselves... goodluck tomorrow!

Keep at it. I know its hard. But believe me this is just a faze. My 3 year old, was horrible for about 3 weeks around Christmas time, and I didn't give in and let him win! It was so hard, lots of tears (on both ends). I kept thinking, "What happened to my good little boy?" And he learned. He doesn't give me those troubles now. Now I'm just bracing myself for the next thing to come along....
