Preview of 1 Year Pictures

She loves to spit

Mommy and Bryn

A few days ago I took Bryn for her 1 year pictures. The photographer sent me a few to preview and take to Bryn's party. After the photo shoot she was sitting in the car...she kept smiling huge smiles out of the window. So I rolled down the window and Wendy took some pictures! That is why you see the car in the background in the first pictures! But Bryn did a great job! She was so smiley and sweet!

Bryn's Birthday started off with a trip to the dr. for her 1 year well-child check. She weighs 18 lbs. 7 oz. (11%) and is 28 1/4 inches long (25%). She is little for her age, but not bad. I knew she was getting shots during this appt. What I didn't know is they were different shots than normal. She got her chicken pox and MMR vaccine! She also got another one, but I don't remember which one it was. But instead of getting them all in her leg she got one in one arm, one in her other arm and one in her leg. She hated being checked out by Dr. Simmons. It is the white coats the dr's wear! She hates them. The dr. told us that she could get a fever from these shots. Well we live about 3 minutes from the dr.'s office. Bryn fell asleep  in the car before we could get home! She was kind of cranky, but we expected that. She usually does super good with her shots though. Well...Kenna and I went shopping while she stayed home with Tyler. We came home in time to pick them up and go to Jan's house for Bryn's Party. When we got to the house she wasn't very happy. She was very tired and not really wanting to play. She also started running a major fever.
Her party turned out great. Jan did a great job of decorating. Thanks Jan! We ate pizza and had cake. Bryn was blessed with great gifts! After the party we came home and put her to bed. She woke up screaming, but I went in and gave her pacifier and she went back to bed. Thanksgiving day she didn't really have any problems. She was cranky, but that was about it. But last night around 11pm she woke up screaming and could not breathe. She was gasping for air and gargling. We called the nurse and told her what was going on and she heard Bryn in the background and told us to go straight to the ER! Makenna was sleeping so I stayed home with her and Tyler took Bryn to the ER. She was given a breathing treatment was told she has croup! No fun at all. She was given an oral steroid to take for 5 days. She is so snotty right now and is having trouble breathing. We have a humidifier in her room, have put her in the bathroom with the shower running with hot water for steam! Poor baby girl. I feel so bad for her. That was our first trip to the ER with one of our kids! Just kind of funny that exactly a year ago...she was in the hospital for the same thing (respiratory distress in the NICU). She just loves to give her parents a scare!!

I Am Grateful

I have a lot to give thanks for this year. Although many things have not gone "my" way...I feel very blessed. Last years Thanksgiving felt like it didn't even happen. So this year I am ready for some good food, good company and good times! I am grateful for an amazing husband that tries hard every day to make me happy. He is a hard worker and is doing a great job at finishing his law degree. He is a great daddy to his girls and they love him so much! I am thankful for my daughters. They have taught me so many things. I never thought I could love anyone this much. I love watching them grow everyday! I am thankful for all my family - parents, brothers, sister, in-laws, extended family and all! It has been awesome to have such a great support system. I am also thankful for all my friends. They always have encouraging words for me. Thank you so much!

I hope everyone has an Awesome Thanksgiving with lots of yummy turkey!!!

Bryn is 1

1 year
6 months
1 month
2 days
Minutes old

1 year ago today...I got my biggest trial and one of my favorite blessings. Bryn is so awesome. She is my hero. She is so strong and beautiful. I prayed for patience and God gave me Bryn! :). She medically has been a tough baby. But other than that...she is great. She is so happy. I love her smile. She loves to giggle. She loves to crawl around and pull up on everything. She is a copy-cat. She has been through a ton of dr.'s appts, physical therapy and surgery in her short 1 year on earth! I can't believe how far she has come in 12 months. I have no idea where the time went! I honestly feel like she was just born yesterday. I see her birth very vividly in my head. It was one of the hardest days of my life. But to see her now...I am amazed. I love her so much! Happy Birthday Bryn! You're amazing!

Drum Roll Please.....

Bryn's New Thumb

She is doing so awesome. Her hand still has quite a bit of swelling. The dr. said that is perfectly normal and that the swelling could stick around for a few months. He was very pleased with how her hand looks and with how it is healing. We have been massaging the tissue to help break up the scar tissue and her thumb moving. We have seen it move a little bit more over the past few days, but it is not consistent.  We are very happy with how it looks. Please remember that these pictures were taken last week. It was 4 weeks post surgery. But it still looks amazing and we are so proud of Bryn and her strength!

Bath Time

Since Bryn got her bandaging off...she is able to take real baths again. So I put her and Kenna in together for the first time. Bryn was not happy to be in the tub. She was really scared and tried to climb out. So I grabbed a few pictures for the experience and took her out!

Bryn's First Time in a Swing

A few weeks ago we went to the park. We had had such nice weather. It was like park day everyday. We loved it. So I took the girls out and let Bryn try swinging for the first time. She loved it!

Kenna's Team

Kenna did really well in this game. I threatened to throw away her Snow White movie if she threw a tantrum. It worked like a charm. She did so well. She played so well. She ran fast after the ball, got up each time she fell and hustled to score a few goals! Go Kenna. We are bummed soccer season is now over, but she will be playing again in the spring!

My Cute Girls

I could hear the girls, but I couldn't see them. I looked behind the couch and Kenna was reading to Bryn. She can't really read yet, but she was trying. It was so cute. I tried to get the camera and take a photo of them, but Miss Bryn turned around too fast and started smiling!

This Past Week

Bryn had her 5 week post op appt. on Thursday. The dr. said her hand looked great. He told us that she would not need a splint and that we were to treat her hand like any other hand. He wants us to encourage her to move it. We have been working with her on that. She extends her thumb, but isn't quite bending it yet. It is still swollen (can be for months) and the flexor muscles need to tighten a little more. She will hold things in the web space, but she is mostly holding the object with her other fingers with light pressure from her thumb. Therapy was interesting. Not because of the actual therapy, but because of the miscommunication between the therapist and the hand dr. It was very annoying, but I hope it has been worked out. The therapist showed me the exercises to do so I can work with Bryn at home!
Makenna has been wanting to read and color all the time. I love reading with her. She has also wanted to be very cuddly and watch movies together. She has been a pretty good girl lately! I hope that the "4s" are going to be a good year!
Since my PC broke...I have not been able to upload pictures the way I want. I have to be able to hook the PC to the tv to see what I am doing. (long story). So I haven't uploaded pictures in awhile. This week will also be really busy. Hopefully tomorrow night I can post some recent pictures.
Makenna has her first primary program tomorrow. Bryn has her 1 year pictures on Tuesday and therapy. Wednesday is Bryn's birthday and she has her 1 year well child appt. Then Thursday is Thanksgiving, Friday- family pictures, Saturday-friend's birthday! Wow...I am getting tired just thinking of it.

4 Week Post-Op

On Friday we took Bryn to the hand dr. for another check. He took the wrappings off and left them off. She now has a hand to use. The stitches are all gone. Her hand is still pretty swollen, which he said it could take a few months for the swelling to go down. He wants us to encourage her to use her hand by placing toys in her space and try and get her to use her right hand and not her left. Her hand looks really good. I will post some pictures maybe in the next week or so. It is so crazy how much it looks like a thumb. She is moving the top part of her thumb, but we are trying to get her to move the whole thing. She is supposed to start physical therapy this coming week and go once a week for about a month and then just have an at-home program. She will the Dr. next Friday and then see him once a month after that!

Lately

The weather has been so nice. We have many playdates at the park. We have enjoyed being outside and drawing with chalk and going on walks! I love this weather. Too bad its supposed to get cool again next week.

Makenna is a goof ball. This kid loves to get her jammies on for bed. She isn't fully ready to go to bed without headwear (headband, beanie or santa hat) and slippers. She usually puts on socks and then slippers over. She also loves to put on gloves. She looks like she is ready to go to the north pole! haha

Bryn drank from a straw yesterday. It was only after I told her she didn't know how to that she grabbed the cup and did it. She isn't going to let anyone tell her she can't do something! She is moving and climbing like crazy. If we can just work on the balance issue she will be walking. She is climbing up on boxes and tables. She pulls herself up on everything and walks around it. She is growing up so fast!

3 Weeks Post-Op

Bryn saw the dr. again today. He unwrapped her and looked at her hand. It looked a lot better than it did last week. The dr. said things looked great. He cleaned it up a little. He was going to leave it unwrapped until he saw how Bryn reacted to her thumb. haha. Right after the assistant unwrapped her hand she started trying to suck on her thumb and eat the stitches. He didn't want her to get it wet or bite it so he re-wrapped it until week. We still have to keep a sock on it so she doesn't eat the gauze. She is a crazy girl. She is getting better and better with how she reacts to the people in the "white coats." As long as she had her bunny and her binky, she did okay! Good job Bryn.

For Halloween we took the girls to our cities Trick-Or-Treat on the street. They shut down the main street in town and all the buisnesses hand out candy. It was a lot of fun. They also had blow up slides and bounce houses. Kenna got quite a bit of candy. Bryn was a good girl...just riding around in her stroller. I even gave her a sucker. Makenna enjoyed running around. We went with our friends Greg, Jen, Ryder and Cash. My cousin Shae and her family met us there for a bit. Happy Halloween!!

25!

Last Saturday was my 25th Birthday! I know...I have been married for 6 years, have a 3.5 year old daughter and an 11 month old daughter and I am finally turning 25!! Friday afternoon Tyler came home and said, "Get out of here." He said he would watch the kids and I could go out and shop with my birthday money. I actually had time to try clothes on and look around. It was really nice. Friday night we had a dinner over at Tyler's parents house. Roast, gravy, mashed potatoes, roles, strawberry and banana jello and cake. Yummy. Thanks Jan. Tyler bought me a cake from Raspberries N' Creme! It was so good! Then Saturday we pretty much did nothing. That is okay though. We went to our ward Halloween party and then came home to watch BYU fail in their attempt to beat TCU. That was a major bummer. Oh well. So it was a pretty quiet birthday, but a good one. The best birthday present though was that Bryn came out of surgery doing extremely well. Seeing her thumb wiggle was the next best present. I also loved hearing Makenna sing Happy Birthday to me. She is so funny.

IT MOVED!!!!

I saw Bryn's thumb wiggle a few times today. No not by accident. She really did move it. Go Bryn. You rock!

Bryn

These are some lyrics that reminded me of Bryn. I know they are talking about a girl in love with a guy and everything, but these words are true for Bryn.

And everyone that sees you
Always want's to know you
And everyone that knows you
Always has a smile
You're standing ovation after years of waiting
For a chance to finally shine
Everyone calls you amazing
I just call you mine

She is mine. Well...Mine and Tyler's. She is amazing. She is mine. She is unbelievable. She is an inspiration to many.
Makenna is a great big sister and a protector to Bryn and is amazing as well. They are both amazing little girls.

Bryn's 2 week Post Op Appt!

I'm a big girl now!
Bryn with her cute sock! haha. We put a sock on her hand to protect the guaze. The minute the dr. put it on she started eating it! haha

Look...I have a thumb!

Look...I have a thumb!
My "new" cast for the week!

Last Tuesday we went and saw Dr. Rayan. He checked the tip of her thumb and said it looked great and told us to come back in a week to take the cast off. So today we went in. I was totally prepared to take pictures. I was mentally prepared to see swelling and stitches and a new thumb. But when the cast came off I was not prepared to see the amount of swelling she had and the big "blob" she has between her fingers. I had the camera ready to take a picture and I just couldn't do it. Tyler was holding her and she was screaming. She wasn't in pain...just ticked that dr.'s were touching her again. The dr. then wrapped her hand up in guaze and told us to come back in a week. He said her finger looked perfect...just the way it is supposed too. I said, "I guess that is the difference between the parents and the professional. Because I think it looks bad." Dr. Rayan was really positive. He said that the "blob" would fall off on its own, like an umbilical cord, in about a week to 10 days. The thumb itself looks good. It's the incision that scared me. It is so hard to see your child go through something like this. I wish I could do it for her. It looked super painful. Oh man. My heart just hurts for her. But she is an amazing little girl and such a brave little girl! Maybe next week it will look a little bit better and I will be able to take a picture of the whole hand. Tyler did have to remind me that most of the post op pictures we have seen have been at least 6-10 weeks post surgery and that this is only 2 weeks after.

Saturday was our ward Halloween party. Makenna is a garden Fairy this year and Bryn just went in a Halloween outfit. She wasn't too fond of Makenna's old monkey costume so we decided she could just be cute in her Halloween garb! Kenna had a good time going trunk-or-treating with her grammy. Bryn got to walk around and be pushed like a princess in her stroller. We had a good time!

Kenna's school went to the zoo for a field trip last week. It was pretty cold...so we had to bundle up. The kids got to go into a warm room and learn about some animals. They were able to see a frog, snake, cockroach and tarantula. The kids thought it was pretty cool. Then they ate lunch and had free time to walk around the zoo. We went and saw the gorillas, tigers and rhinos and fed the ducks. The kids had a good time.

Pumpkins

Bryn and Kenna (How cute...they are holding hands)
Addison and Bryn

So my sis-in-law had an idea to put the girls in a pumpkin. Addison wasn't too thrilled with it. Bryn I don't think cared either way. Makenna was bummed she didn't get to get inside too!

She is Human

Haha!!! My 10.5 month old is human. She was grumpy today. But even at that...she wasn't grumpy like most kids. She just whined a little today. So she is still pretty much super human. She has been so awesome. Today she was just irritable and couldn't decide what she wanted. She did enjoy the french fries she had today. She got a bath and went to bed a little bit earlier than normal. I think she just has been a little more tired than normal. She sees the hand dr. tomorrow to be evaluated. He said he will most likely NOT take off her bandages and look at it. So I think he will just look at the tip of the finger and check that it is pink and warm. It is because we check it...but we will let the dr. check too :)

3 Days After

Bryn had surgery. What? She had surgery??? haha. You would never ever be able to tell she had surgery except for the big bandages on her right arm. She is so happy. She crawled around today and had fun walking around the table. We even took her out for an adventure to Wal-Mart for a little bit. This little woman is amazing! Sometimes I forget that she just had a major surgery. Then I see her hand wrapped and am reminded of how insanely awesome our little girl is. Makenna has been a great big sister and tells everyone to be careful with Bryn because she has a cast. Before Bryn's surgery Makenna said,

M: I don't want Bryn to get thumbs.
Me: Well that's not very nice Kenna. Why don't you want her to have thumbs?
M: I love Bryn without thumbs.
Me: (thinking how awesome little kids are and how unpredjucide they are) Well Makenna...You will love her just as much with thumbs.
M: I know Mommy. But I love her without thumbs too!

I have 2 great girls.

2 days after

Bryn is the most amazing little girl I know. She had surgery just over 48 hours ago. She is smiling and happy. She is only taking regular baby tylenol and antibiotics. She doesn't cry or complain. She does get a little frustrated because her cast inhibits crawling as well as she did, but she is still getting around on the ground. She went to bed last night at 7:30pm and slept till 8:30am this morning. It was awesome. She woke up happy and ate breakfast and played. She took a 3 hour nap also. She is eating a graham cracker right now. She has been so amazing. Her thumb is still pink...that is what we are supposed to look for each day. That means she is getting circulation in it!! Yea! We see the hand dr. again on Tuesday for a check-up. He said he most likely will not take off the cast and look. He will just check the finger tips and ask if I have questions. Bryn is so awesome!

We Are Home

So last night Bryn and I slept at the hospital. She did so awesome. She did end up having kind of a rough time for about 10 minutes before she went to bed though. Tyler was holding her before he left and she threw up all over him. His shirt was covered. I took her from him and tip her over to let her continue and it nailed Tyler's pants and shoes. Sorry Ty. :) The dr. said that the pain medicine and/or anesthesia made her throw up. She got it all over her and her IV cover. The nurse took her IV cover off to get her a new one. While Tyler was trying to take off her soiled jammies her IV came out and blood was squirting everywhere! The nurse got the bleeding to stop and Bryn had puke and blood all over her. Oh well. We got her cleaned up and changed and then Ty left. Bryn went to bed for me at 9pm and slept until 12am. The nurses had me wake her up to take her meds and check her vitals. She went straight back to sleep. She woke up at 2:30am and then about every hour after that until 5:30. She just groaned and I would give her her binky and rub her back and she was fine. She ate at 5:30. Dr. Rayan came up and looked at her at 6am. He said her hand looked perfect (or at least the way he wanted it to look this morning). He told me I could take her home. I just need to keep her inside where it is warm and keep the house warm too....high gas bills for the next month I guess :) But I brought her home and we were at home by about 7:30am. She is so happy to be home. So am I. Bryn is an amazing little girl and has been such a trooper through this whole situation. She is my hero!

Bryn Today

So....Bryn's surgery went great. The dr. was a little worried. Her muscles and her blood vessels were under developed in her index finger. He is very hopeful though that things will be okay. He hasn't "lost a thumb" yet and doesn't expect Bryn to be his first! He still continued with the surgery and is just watching to make sure the circulation stays in it. Her right arm is all bandaged up. Her left arm has a brace on it because of the IV. She hates seeing the nurses. Every time one walks in the room she gets mad and cries. She was in surgery from 7-10:32am. The surgery started around 7:20am this morning. It was very difficult to hand her over to the nurse and walk away. But it made me feel a lot better that Bryn did not cry when we left. So far there have been no tears from me or Tyler!!! That is good! Just lots of prayers! The nurse called about every 45 minutes to update us and tell us that Bryn was doing great. We got to see her 10 minutes after they put her in the recovery room. I got to sit and hold her. She was very out of it and just cuddled with me. She is talking and playing a little more right now (2:36pm).

We just want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support. Words canNOT express how thankful and grateful we are for all of our friends and family that have constantly called, written and texted to check on Bryn and us.

Bryn and I are staying over tonight in the hospital. The Dr. will check on her tomorrow and we should be good to go home sometime tomorrow morning/afternoon!! When I get a chance I will post more pictures!!

Surgery is over

Surgery is over. The doctor has said that the surgery went well, but we need to watch the circulation in Brynn's Thumb. Crazy to say she has a thumb now.

We had to check into the hospital at 5:30am this morning. Man was it early. Bryn was trying to figure out why she was awake and where we were at. We got all signed in and taken up to the waiting room. We then went back with her and got her vitals and weight. We got to put her in a little hospital gown. She didn't like having her oxygen taken. She cried when the nurse tried to get it. She was talking like crazy and was pretty happy considering she was starving and tired. She did really well. We then met with the surgeon and the anesthiesologist(sp) and then walked Bryn to the back. It was really hard handing her over to the nurse. But she didn't cry so that made it better for us. The nurse called up front at 7:26 am and told us that she had gone to sleep just fine, her IV went great and they had just started surgery. My mom, Tyler and I are playing on the internet and watching movies on the Ipod. We are doing well. We are trying not to think of what they are doing to Bryn back there!

Can't Sleep

With Tyler being out of town...I can't sleep. I am sitting up watching late night t.v. playing on the internet. I am thinking of how there is less than 6 days until Bryn's surgery. I am thinking about how cute and fun she is and how awesome it will be for her to have a thumb. I am thinking about how scared I am that something will go wrong. I am thinking of how I feel fine, but I know it will all hit me when I take my little 10 month old baby girl into the hospital. I am thinking about how 10 months ago she was in the hospital with tubes up her nose and down her throat and how scared I was then. The dr. seems super confident and kind of makes it seem like this surgery is no big deal. He has done a ton of these surgeries so that is good. I know he will do an amazing job. But it is still scary. I don't want my baby to hurt.

I stole this part from a friend's website. Her son had this surgery last year. She has been a help to me. Thank you to Dawna, Catherine and Elizabeth for all your support, help and advice!

Thumb Pollicization

So what is thumb pollicization? Well in my definition it is an incredible surgery that will allow my child to perform anything that requires a thumb/finger pinch grasp. So what will this allow Bryn to do? Cutting, writing, zipping, grasping tweezers, holding her bottle better, holding a spoon better, grasping a parallel bar, holding a car steering wheel to list a few. Somethings she will be able to do better and some she will do for the first time. The medical field would define it as the surgical creation of a thumb from a finger, usually the index finger. There are several techniques, but they have in common steps to shorten, rotate, and reposition muscles to achieve a functional and aesthetic result.

Bryn Eating Her Muffin

Muffins

It is a tradition for our family to have blueberry muffins and cinnamon muffins on the morning of conference. Today was no different...other than we let Bryn eat one. She went at it and loved it. She also has had pancakes and waffles this week. This kid just wants to eat everything the big kids are eating! Makenna liked the muffins too!

Soccer Games

Kenna had her 3rd and 4th soccer games this weekend. The first one was at 8am. She did pretty well. During the 11am game she scored a few goals on her own and assisted on others. She loves to play. She is getting the hang of people taking the ball and having to steal it back. Look out...we might have the next Mia Hamm!

Wow

So Makenna now has an ear infection. I took her to the dr. a few days ago. She is now on antibiotics. I have a sinus infection...so I am on antibiotics. This not getting sick thing....well it isn't working! Hopefully Bryn will not get sick. The dr. said that he thinks Bryn will get sick right before surgery...because that is just the way it works. I am praying that for once...he is wrong. We are down to less than 2 weeks before surgery. I am so nervous/scared/excited for this surgery. My grandma just had knee surgery and all went well...to me that is a good sign and hopefully things will go that well for Bryn. Tyler is still healing from his dirt bike incident. Ty is getting ready to go to New York to represent his school at a business function. Bryn has her pre-op appt next week. I am ready for my mom to come. It is so nice when she is here!

The Past Week

Seems like we have been so busy lately. About a week ago I took Bryn to the dr. She had a double ear infection. No fun! Then Kenna had her 1st soccer game last Saturday and her 2nd one yesterday. She did okay in her second one. Was a little tired because Friday night we stayed up late. We had gone to the state fair and saw the Monster Truck Rally with our friends. Makenna had school and gymnastics on Tuesday. We went to playgroup on Wednesday. Bryn had therapy. Yesterday we went to our ward picnic. Tyler went dirt bike riding with Jen and Greg and he crashed the dirt bike. He is pretty sore, has some burns on his leg, bruises on his arms and legs...but overall he is okay :). I went to girls night out last night and saw Fame. Now we are all exhausted trying to recover from the week.

Kenna's 1st Soccer Game

Baby Addie and Aunt Dah came to watch
Bryn showing that Kenna is #1!

Kenna scoring her first goal
Kenna stealing the ball from the white jerseys
Kenna throwing in the ball
Kenna waiting for the game to start
Daddy and Kenna
Kenna practicing with Coach Bailey
Isn't she cute?! This is the smallest jersey they make and it was swallowing her!

Makenna had her first soccer game today! She made the first goal of the game. She made 3 goals by herself and assisted on a 4th. Go Kenna! She did have a lot of tears and crying at the beginning because people were taking the ball away from her. But we got her settled down. She had a lot of fun. It was raining/sprinkling the entire game. It was fun that Kenna played the team that her friend Gwen and Blake on it. And sure enough...I was able to capture the first goal and then my camera ran out of batteries! Bummer!!!

Froggie Jammies

She has 4 teeth on bottom
She has 4 teeth on top. The 2 side ones are almost in. Excuse the sweet potatoes on her face. I didn't clean it up before I took the pictures.

I absolutely love these jammies. They are so cute. I was able to find matching ones for the girls.

Thoughts

The past week has been a time of much reflecting for me. I have thought about how much I love my family. My girls aren't perfect, but they are perfect for me. Bryn is one of the happiest, funniest, most cuddly babies I know. I can't stop kissing her. She is just so darn cute. Makenna is so smart, funny and fiesty. She says things every day that amaze me. I have had so much fun with them lately. Makenna is getting ready for her first soccer game this weekend. She has been in preschool one day a week and doing gymnastics. She is a social butterfly. I love to hear all the things she learns in school. She has been into wanting to talk on the phone and text. Yes...I know. She is 3 and she wants to text. I just love my girls. Tyler and I have been talking a lot more lately. He is making time to be with the family more. We enjoy spending time with girls. I love this fall weather we are having. I love the rain. I love cuddling in my bed in the morning with the girls, watching cartoons. I love the time I get to cuddle with Bryn before she goes to bed. I love how Kenna wants to grow up to be just like her mommy. I just can't express how much I really love my family! We aren't the perfect family...but we are perfect for each other!

BYU beat OU 14-13!! GO COUGARS!!!!
Tyler and I were lucky enough to be able to go to the game! My little brother, Steven, is #24 for the Cougars. We were able to get tickets through him and meet my parents in Arlington for the game! The Cowboy Stadium is AMAZING! Our seats were not bad. It was so intimidating to be in the stadium with all those OU fans. Driving around the stadium before the game...all we saw were OU tents. I told my parents that if someone yells "Boomer" everyone yells "Sooner." So to prove it...as we drove around I would yell "Boomer" out the window and people would all yell "Sooner" back. It was hilarious! Going into the stadium was intimidating. There were only about 3 setions that were blue. The rest of the entire place was in crimson and cream! It was nuts. The crowd was going crazy. We sat in the family section for BYU! I had a blast. I was jumping up and down and screaming the whole time. I lost my voice! Steven was on the field a lot for punts and he even caught the kickoff and returned it for 22 yards! How cool is that! I was so proud of my little bro! Cougars deserved this win and probably would have won if Bradford wasn't injured! Bradford didn't get hurt until there were seconds left in the first half. BYU had held the Sooners to 7-0 at that point! Both teams weren't perfect...but BYU kept focused and was able to pull it off! After the game I was able to go see Steven. He was pretty excited about the game. The Sooner fans were pretty awesome though. We didn't hear anything bad after the game and they all said good game and were pretty nice! Very classy! Before the game...my parents and I went over to the hotel where the players were staying to see him. It was so cool to see little kids run up to him and ask him for his autograph because he was a BYU football player! I am so happy I was able to go to the game. The atomsphere was so much fun it was a great 1st time college football game experience. Thanks to my parents for a great weekend and to Jan for watching the girls!!!!

Kenna's First Day of School

We went to Sonic and she got tater tots and apples for breakfast. That is what she wanted!

Kenna was so excited for her first day of preschool today. Before school, I took her to get breakfast. I asked her what she wanted and she said tater-tots. So we went to Sonic. We sat in the car and ate. Then I took her into school. I walked her in and tried to kiss and hug her goodbye and she pushed me away and said, "oh mom!" So I told her to have a good day and be good and I left. I picked her up at 2:30 and she was too busy playing playdough to say hello. I asked the teacher if she was good and she said yes...but also very talkative. So since Kenna was good, I took her for a treat. She asked to go to Braums for cookies and cream ice cream. She looked so cute today. I can't believe I have a child that is old enough to be in preschool!

#6

Yes... that is right. Tyler and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary last Sunday. I can't believe it has already been 6 years. We sure have been through a lot together. I am so thankful to have found such a wonderful husband. He works so hard for our family. He is a great dad to the girls. I am so glad he only has 1 year left of school! 8.5 months to be exact. And 10.5 months until he takes the bar! Tyler is one of the best things that ever happened to me and I am so lucky to be his wife. For our anniversary we didn't do too much because we are traveling down to Dallas in 2 weeks. Last Sunday we just went to church and then over to Tyler's parents house for dinner. I gave him a card that said "6 years...then to Eternity and Beyond!" I look forward to spending eternity with Tyler and working together to raise our girls!

I have to Brag

I am so proud of my hubby. I sure did miss him though this summer. He worked really hard. He worked for a judge here in the city for about 20-25 hours a week and took 2 MBA classes and 1 law class. He finally got his grades back and he made straight A's. Getting an A in a law class is pretty hard. I am so happy for him and his hard work and dedication. I love you Tyler!

Get That Out of Your Mouth

Makenna has this fixation with putting things in her mouth. She puts everything/anything in her mouth. The other day we were at Tyler's mom's house and Kenna was in the hall. Jan saw her in the hall with the plug-in air freshener in her hand. Jan took it away from her, but then noticed Kenna was holding her mouth funny. Jan asked her if she had put it in her mouth and she said yes. She had gotten to hot fragance oil in her mouth. We took her in the kitchen and rinsed out her mouth with soap. She is such a crazy nut.
A few weeks ago I bought her these cute Ariel flip flops from the Disney store. They were cute and on sale for cheap so I got them. Kenna wore them one day in the car and when I went to get her out of the car there was blue foam all over the floor. Kenna had bitten holes in the bottom of her flip flop. I swear...this kid puts everything in her mouth. I thought that stage ended when they hit about 18 months.

Landon and Bryn

Today my friend Amy came over to visit. Bryn loved having him to play with. She tried holding his hand and kept trying to roll over him! Poor Landon. He is such a cute baby! Landon is 6 weeks old and Bryn is 8.5 months old.

First Biter Bisquit

Bryn thought Makenna's popsicle looked better

The other day we gave Bryn her first Biter Bisquit. She seemed to like it okay. She at a little bit of it and then quit. So we got her a popsicle and she seemed to enjoy that much more. She loves to eat these infant rice cakes. Today she had her first ritz cracker and loved it. She also ate a breadstick. She is moving up in the world! :)

The Funniest Story I Have Heard In a Long Time

Yesterday, Tyler's grandma was robbed. The guy kicked in her carport door and came into the house. She was in the bathroom and he told her to stay in there.  She came out tried to make a call and he broke the phone. He had told her that she had a gun. She asked to see it. He pointed it to her head. Then she asked to see the bullets. He took them out of the gun and showed her. Then he took the cash out of her purse, went and grabbed and ice cream from the freezer and grabbed her purse and started leaving.  As he was leaving with her purse she said, you already took my cash please leave my purse. My drivers license is in there and they will catch you with it so you better leave...and guess what!! He left her purse! Apparently he was totally stoned. But can you imagine...Tyler's little old grandma thinking so quick on her feet!! I would have stayed in the bathroom crying hoping he would leave. We are so glad she is okay! She is so stinking hilarious!!!

SYTYCD

Tonight was the finale of So You Think You Can Dance. It is one of my favorite shows. I love dancing and used to be an okay dancer. I haven't danced in years and I miss it so much. I love watching all the fun routines. There were quite a few routines this year that were amazing to me and there is one from last year that will probably always be my favorite. I marvel at how amazing these dancers are. I wish that I could be as good as they are. Even when I was at my best I still couldn't compete with them. There is just something about dance that I can't get enough of. It is so fun. I am so happy with who won tonight. It was who I was rooting for. I have wanted to start taking dance classes again, but since it has been so long I would probably die! haha. But, I absolutely love dancing!

They are growing Up!

A few cool things have happened this week. Kenna has been in swimming lessons for the past few weeks. On Monday we were swimming with some friends.  Up until this point she was only working on floats and could swim with floaties. She had never swam without floaties. Well Kenna ventured off the step in the pool with no floaties. My friend Jen was ready to get in the pool to save Kenna and then she started swimming back to the step. So I got in with Kenna and let her practice with no floaties. She does really well for a beginner. She doesn't like to swim above the water. She is like a mermaid swimming under the water. Her swim teacher was pretty proud of her today. Makenna also got signed up for soccer last week. She won't be starting until Sept., but we went out today and got her jersey, shorts, socks, shin guards and ball. She is so excited. We have to keep looking for shoes because they didn't have any small enough for her. She also starts gymnastics next week!

For Bryn....she ate her first "cheerio" type food today. She ate some fruit puffs today and did so well. It was so cool to watch her pick them up with her hands and put them in her mouth. She is working really hard on holding bottle by herself. She is such a fast crawler now too! You put her on the floor and she is gone. She takes after her uncle Brandon and has a BIG shoe fetish. She loves to eat shoes. Doesn't matter whose they are....she just wants them. She has been sleeping all night long. She is talking like crazy and is overall a pretty happy baby!

Getting Fit

So Tyler and I finally got a pass to the YMCA. We have looked in the mirror recently and realized we need to get a pass quick...haha! So we started going this week. Tuesday was okay and then Tyler and I went together yesterday to work out. I was sore this morning, but there is this class called Zumba that my friends said is a lot of fun. So I wanted to go with them. Umm Yea...I felt so dumb. It was a lot of fun, but I am so out of shape. Tyler and I hope to show our girls that exercise is fun and is a good thing. I also signed Kenna up for Soccer as well. She will be in soccer and gymnastics this fall.

Addy and Bryn like to look at each other.
Next to my girls...these are the cutest kids ever... Jaron and Emmie!!
Uncle Lomand and Kenna. Kenna loves Uncle Lomand. From the very first day she stuck to him like glue. He let her help him make fire, he helped her make smores and probably heard Kenna say his name a million times. He was a kid magnet. He had 2-3 or more kids hanging on him at all times. He is like Santa Claus. The kids love him and so do we!
Look at all the kids at the fire
Emmie and Kenna became best friends.

In the car on the way there.
This past weekend we had the Beals Family reunion. It is Tyler's Mom's side of the family. We had about 65 people come. Kenna had plenty of cousins to play with. Her, Emmie and Aislinn became best friends and played great together. The older cousins, Reagan, Heidi and Kai, played well with Makenna as well. For those of you know Kenna...this is huge!!! I didn't hear the words "Their not sharing" at all the whole weekend. The kids played amazingly well. The cool weather felt really nice. It was good to see family that we haven't seen in a long time. Most of them haven't even met Makenna! The girls did awesome in the car. It was a 13 hour drive there and a 13 hour drive home! Good Job kiddos! We sure did miss Tyler. He had to stay at home for school and work.

Storms

OH MY GOSH!!! I don't think I have ever been so scared in my life. Makenna went out with Tyler's mom for a grammy/kenna day. Tyler and I decided to take Bryn and go on a date. Tyler wanted to go to Ted's, but I wanted Chili's if we were going for chips and salsa. So a little after 4pm we left and stopped by the dr.'s office to pick up some paper work. We saw some lightning and it started raining a bit on our way out. Well the main street to Chili's is hard to get across so we were going up another road to be heading north to be able to turn right into Chili's. So we made it up the road a few miles and the storm got worse. The wind started blowing really hard and the rain was really bad. So we were going to hop on the extension and go home. Well...bad idea. We got onto the extension and the wind picked up, the hail hit hard and it was white out conditions. I seriously felt the car shaking and all I could think about was that we were going to blow right off the road. The winds were up to 85mph. I was totally freaking out. We got to an overpass and stopped underneath it. Tyler then drove up to the next over pass. I thought our windows were going to bust out and we could hardly see right in front of us. The radio said that the wall cloud was getting rotation and moving lower to the ground. But the storm was moving south. Tyler was trying to keep driving north so we could move out of the storm. Next thing I hear is the radio guy screaming that a transformer just blew out. We saw Chili's and I told Tyler and felt safer just driving home. Well by the time we made it back up the extension the rain had pretty much stopped and the bad weather was in the south part of town. So we stopped at Ted's (where Tyler originally wanted to go) and ate. I should have just given into him and gone to Ted's and we wouldn't have been in that horrible storm. On the news we saw that a bunch of power poles are down right in the area we were at. There are about 30,000 people in 4 different cities that are without power now. There are a lot of power poles down just a few miles south of us!

For July 4th we went over to my in-laws. They were in Idaho. We had a BBQ with Tyler's sisters family and some of their friends. It was a lot of fun. We had yummy food and lots of explosions! It did pour rain for about 30 minutes, but then blew away and we had fun blowing stuff up! I forgot my camera so the pictures are courtesy of Steve and Danielle!

Lake

Tyler and his girls
Bryn wanted to take a nap
We went to the lake this weekend with Tyler's parents and his Uncle's family. I am bummed because I left my camera in the house the day Kenna went tubing. Bryn had a blast in the water. She was splashing away. Makenna went tubing with Tyler and loved jumping off the back of the boat. Uncle Richard loved giving Kenna a hard time! Nicole and little Richard were good sports and put up with Kenna following them around. Too bad for Tyler's school and swim lessons cause we could have stayed longer!

Swim Lessons

Makenna started swim lessons yesterday. Her teacher's name is Slater. He is a high school kid. Makenna got in the water pretty excited. But when he asked her to do things she made up excuses. He asked her to blow bubbles and she said, "No thanks. I did that yesterday." He asked her again and she said, "I can't...I'm wearing lip gloss." And she pointed to her lips. He was cracking up. I had come back out to check on them because I saw she was trying to get out of the pool and she told me she was done. I asked if she could show me what they were working on and she told me that she couldn't because she had a fever! I asked Slater if she had continued with excuses and he said she had, but he hadn't heard the fever one yet! Today he told me that he had told his mom and swim buddies and they were like, "How old is this girl!?" Haha...she is only 3.5.  Today she did not want to get in. She got in and asked if she could dry off. It took a few minutes, but I convinced her to stay in the water. She didn't want to be in the pool though. She had to be in the hot tub. But Slater was able to get her to go under water a lot. He also started working on floating with her. He is a nice kid and Kenna likes him.

We were able to go to Disneyland for a day. It was so much fun. I love Disneyland. Makenna loved it and so did Bryn. We had a ton of fun and were able to get on quite a few rides considering it was super crowded. The girls did awesome. We were there from 8am-9pm. Bryn did great and Makenna had a lot of fun. Thanks Mom!!!

Kenna

Makenna: (Out of the Blue) Thank you Mommy.

Me: Thank you for what?

Makenna: Thank you for you Mommy.
Ahh so sweet!

When Makenna was born Tyler and decided on the "Not it" method for changing diapers. Like when she pooped...the first one to say "Not it" did not have to change her. Well that has carried over into wiping her when she goes now. Kenna would yell from the bathroom and say she was done so we could go assist her. Yesterday though...she I heard her yelling, "Not It Mommy! Not It!" Haha. Tyler went in and asked if she was done and she said, "Yea daddy...I said Not it!" haha

I got sick yesterday and have been feeling crumby. Makenna was sick a couple of weeks ago. When I started feeling sick she came up to me and said, "Mommy, I am so sorry I made you sick." How cute is that. I explained to her that it wasn't her fault, but she keeps telling me she is sorry.

I Guess I'm Fat

Today Makenna sat down next to me while I was on the computer. I had avocados to use so I made some guac. and was eating it with chips. Makenna puts her hand on my tummy

Makenna: Oh....Mommy...You are having another baby???

Me: NO NO NO. You think I'm fat?? Thanks Makenna

Makenna: Oh wait...You must have eaten too many chips!

Great...so my daughter thinks I am pregnant. Time to hit the treadmill.

On another note....Bryn was a pig tonight. She ate about 1/2 jar of chicken, 3/4 jar sweet potatoes, 3/4 jar of prunes and then sucked down a 7 oz. bottle and went to bed. Haha...what a fatty.

Haha...The first time we went to the beach we were only there for about 2 hours. I really didn't feel like I was getting much sun. Too bad I was! haha. Luckily some solarcaine and aloe did the trick and I was better the next day!

We were able to go to the beach twice in CA. We went to Newport one day and Hunington the second day. I love the beach. Makenna seemed to love it too. The water was really cold, but she didn't care. She was playing in the waves and rolling in the sand. I buried her in the per her request. I love the sand and the sound of the water.

Dr. Appts

Well we met with the hand dr. yesterday. He said Bryn's wrists look good and he doesn't think we need to do the wrist surgery anymore. So he is going to start the first thumb in October. The nurse is supposed to call us within the next 3 weeks to set up the surgery. We have to tell him which hand we want to start with. I am not sure which one we will do. So that is pretty scary/exciting. We might start with the left hand because she seems to use that one more and the dr. said they usually do the dominant hand first.
We went to the ENT yesterday as well and they did a nose scope on her. He found that her adenoid is enlarged and he thinks it might be because of reflux. So he switched her to prevacid. He also gave her allergy medicine to help with the snottiness and she also has another ear infection in her left ear. If the adenoid is not smaller in a few months he said they will have to remove it.
I took Makenna to the dr. on Wednesday and she has pneumonia. No fun. She isn't contagious anymore, but she is really tired and coughs a lot. We are just a bunch of sick people I guess. My kids are more medicine than anyone I know. Bryn is on an antibiotic, allergy meds and prevacid right now. Makenna is on antibiotics and allergy medicine. Plus she takes a vitamin and flouride tablet daily. haha

Bitter-Sweet

Tomorrow the girls and I head home. I really want to see Tyler and so do the girls. Makenna keeps asking, "are we going to stay here forever mommy?" I tell her no and she says, "good...I want to see my daddy." I can't wait to be back with Tyler, but I am sad to leave my family. We have had so much fun...the beach, disneyland, late night movies. We will be sad to say goodbye to my family, but look forward to being with Tyler!

Makenna's 1st Known Nightmare

I am sure Makenna has had nightmares before, but she has never screamed before. Last night I was dead asleep to be woken up at 2am by Makenna screaming, "Grandma!" It was the loudest, most shrill scream I have heard from her. You could hear the fear in her voice. I jumped right out of bed and picked her up. I said, "It's okay Kenna. Mommy is here. Calm down." She said she wanted to sleep in  bed with me. So I let her lay with me for a little bit. But if you have ever slept with Makenna...she is impossible to sleep with. So I put her back in her bed. She started getting scared and told me that there was a crocodile by her bed. I acted like I shot them and told her that they were all gone and Mommy would protect her. She then went back to sleep. Man...It scared me pretty bad by her scream...I can only imagine how she felt actually dreaming it!

Gotta Love CA

So we arrived Tuesday night here in CA. Bryn has slept through the since we have been here. It has been so nice. Wednesday night she slept from 8:30-8am. WOW!! I was so impressed. She has been behaving pretty well. She did really well as we sat through 2 graduations. Makenna has been a little rough, but hopefully she will calm down and chill.

Funny

The girls and I are in CA for my sister's and brother's graduations. Makenna wants to be just like them and wants to have a graduation too. But she was having a hard time saying graduation and was saying, "I want to have a castration too!." haha It was too funny. I quickly had to correct her.

Husbands!!!

So my husband has the only major credit card we have. I took it away from him over a month ago because he has this nasty habit of buying everything and anything he sees. So I have had the card now. I thought that that would stop the spending...NOPE...I was wrong. Tonight I checked the credit card balance and it was higher than it was a few days ago when I checked and I know I didn't use the card. I asked him how he could be buying things without the card and he has it stored on his website that he buys things on. So I changed his user ID and password and his secret question. So hopefully now he won't be wasting all off our money!!!!!

Matching Booties

Makenna's booty
Bryn's booty

Haha...I know this is wierd. But I thought it was funny how much their booty's looked alike. Makenna had much chunkier thighs, but they are pretty similar with their dimples! They are both around 6 months in these pictures!

Lake Day

Kenna had a ton of fun in the baby pool with her Barbies
Haha...Notice the naked Barbie with her head dunked under water?! What kind of child do I have :)
Look at that cute bum
Naked Bryn
Bryn kept petting Addison's head...it was so cute
Yup...That's right...I let my 6 month old drink beer!! ;)

Kenna, Bryn, Aunt Dah and Cousin Addison
Auntie Ber and Bryn
We went to the lake for about a day. We went up Thursday night, spent Friday on the water and came home Saturday. It was a lot of fun. Kimber came out from Utah and Steve and Dah were there. Kenna was like a fish. Every time the boat stopped she wanted in the water. She got in by herself...with a life jacket on...and swam around. The boys that were there were so nice to her. They were calling her Kenna bear and letting her play with them. She was the biggest flirt.

6 Month Photos

Please bear with me...there are a lot of pictures!
Bryn had her 6-month pictures taken last Thursday. Wendy did such a great job. There are a ton of pictures...it was hard to pick just a few to put on my blog. So here are a few of them. I think they are awesome. The girls look so pretty...but I am biased being their mother!
