Easter Activities

 At the neighborhood egg hunt

 The Easter bunny at UCO
 The egg hunt at UCO
Makenna got hot and though putting the bucket on her head would help

I took the girls to our neighborhood easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30th. There were over 900 eggs. One side of the field was for Bryn's age and the playground had eggs for Kenna's age. Within seconds all the eggs were gone. The girls each got about 10 eggs and were pleased to have their candy.
After that I took the girls to UCO's egg hunt. We have heard about it for years, but never went. I finally took the girls this year. It was completely unorganized. The weather was really warm. We waited for Bryn's egg hunt and it was insane. There were a ton of eggs, but she got trampled and only made it out with 2. I talked Kenna into not staying for hers. I told her I would buy her bubble gum so she didn't have to get trampled by a bunch of other kids. She luckily agreed with me and we left. Overall the girls had a fun day!

Spring Break 2013

Spring Break was from March 18-22. Monday I took the girls to the gym so I could work out. Then we went to Mystery Movie Monday at the MAC center. They played the movie Hop and gave free popcorn and juice pouches. The girls loved it. After we went to our friends house to jump on their trampoline. Tuesday I braved the zoo with the girls. Not the best thing to do in OK on spring break. But we met our friends their. Our friends sis-in-law and her kids came too. Makenna instantly made best friends with their daughter Olivia, who is turning 8 soon as well. Afterwards we went to Mcdonalds for lunch. Then I had a photoshoot that night. The girls sat patiently in the car and watched a movie while I did the shoot. Wednesday I had a shoot in the morning. Then we went to the park with the same friends we went to the zoo with. Then the girls got to go to lunch and to mani/pedis with grandma. That night we went swimming at the YMCA. Thursday we didn't do much. The girls and I went shoe shopping and then went to the library. Friday I took the girls to see the movie Croods. Then we went to Target. That night we went swimming at the YMCA again. Saturday- It was the official last day of spring break. We took the girls to lunch and since I had spent a lot of one on one time with the girls, Tyler decided to take the girls out. He took them bowling. All in all I would say we had a successful spring break.

Valentine's Day

The girls V-day gifts from Ty and I
My roses from Tyler

On Valentine's Day, Tyler and I got the girls a few little gifts. Tyler bought me some roses. We decided we weren't going to go out on V-day because of crowds. I made a roast and we stayed at home together as a family. The Saturday after V-day, Tyler and I went out to Red Rock Grill and to a movie. It was really fun. Can't believe this was our 10th Valentine's Day together.

On Feb. 12th we got some snow. It came fast and was a wet snow. It was perfect for snowmen. I couldn't wait to pick Kenna up from school to come and play in it. Bryn wanted to eat the snow. She would stick her tongue out and eat the snow. They had fun making snow angels, snowmen, having snowball fights and running around.

Family Night

On Feb. 5th our mall had a family fun night. It was a free event and the girls got to get their face painted, see a magic show, get a treat, do a craft and get a balloon animal. Kenna got to participate in the magic show. She thought it was pretty funny. The girls love having their face painted, so it made for a great night.

Tumbling

Makenna started tumbling class January 28th. On the first day of class they were working on back handsprings. Kenna took it with stride and tried her best.  Now that she has taken a few classes she is realizing that it is not easy. I am trying to explain to her that it isn't easy and that if she really wants to do it that it will be hard work. She is having a hard time understanding that she has to learn the fundamentals and strengthen her body before she can just start throwing back handsprings without being supported. She is loving it though.

GO THUNDER!

On January 4, 2013 Kenna and I went to a Thunder game with the Jeffries family. It was YMCA night at the game. Tyler opted to stay home with Bryn. Kenna cheered like crazy. She was so into the game. She got to see a thunder tattoo and have her hair spray painted blue. It was a really fun night.

?

On November 16, 2012 I found out I was pregnant. After trying for about 2 years, Tyler and I were both very excited. It was hard not to tell the whole world the moment we had found out. With the holidays quickly approaching, we wanted to wait a little bit and announce to them on Thanksgiving. I waited a little under a week to tell them. I went and bought shirts that said 'Big Sister' for both girls. On Wed, nov. 21, I skyped my family in Utah to tell them. I told them I wanted to show them Bryn's new birthday present and I showed them the shirt. It took them a minute, but then they all got excited. I think Grandma Gloria's reaction was the best. She got so giddy and started clapping. My siblings were so excited. Later that night we told Tyler's family. We did the same thing, but we had the girls open their shirts. At that time we told the girls too. It felt so good to be able to tell everyone. We wanted to keep things quiet to the general public until I saw my OBGYN on Dec. 11. I had a couple friends that had complications with their 3rd pregnancy and I wanted to make sure things were ok before we announced. On December 11, 2012, I went to my appointment. The dr. did and ultrasound and we got to see 'baby peanut' and his heartbeat. I felt a sense of relief. That day our Christmas cards went out in the mail to all friends and family announcing that we were expecting. I was thrilled.

At about 8 wks I started spotting a little. I remember spotting like this when I was pregnant with Makenna so I didn't think too much about it. But just because I'm paranoid, I called the dr and to make sure I didn't need to come in. The nurse said what was going on seemed normal and not to worry. So I traveled home to CA for Christmas. Christmas day I started spotting a little more. I tried to stay calm and just rest a little more that day. The day after Christmas I started spotting a lot more. I called the dr. and explained what was going on and she said it could be normal, but to be safe, go to the ER. I didn't really want to go and then have nothing wrong and make a mountain out of a mole hill. About this time we were headed to the airport so Tyler could fly back to OKC. We literally had everyone piled in the car and I grabbed Tyler and asked for a blessing from my dad and him. My parents had no idea what was going on. Tyler gave me a blessing and through the blessing I knew things weren't quite right. My mom then asked what was going on and I told her that I needed to go to the ER, that I was spotting. We took Tyler to the airport so he wouldn't miss his flight and I called the insurance to see what hospital I could go to. One of the hospitals was my Aunt Rhonda's hospital. She is a nurse and works at a hospital in CA. My mom called her to see if she was working. She had just gotten off her shift. She said she would try to get things rolling for me. We showed up at the ER and my dad dropped my mom and I off and he took the girls and everyone else home. Thanks to my Aunt, I didn't have to wait. They had a bed ready for me and I walked right back. I went in for an ultrasound and at that moment my heart sunk. No heartbeat. The little heartbeat I had seen at 6.5 wks was no longer there. I was 9 wks along. So it was confirmed. I miscarried. I never really thought this could happen to me. But I should have learned by now that if I least expect it, I should probably expect it. This has been the most trying experience I have ever been through. We are hoping to try again, just not sure how soon.

 They loved opening presents

On December 16, we had Christmas at our house with Tyler's parents. We had dinner and the girls were able to be spoiled with presents from grandma and grandpa. A reporter from the Oklahoman came and took a picture of our family and did a story about our family's Christmas Eve Tradition. My MIL has given us books every year that are special to her and a Christmas book. It has been a great way to build our library and for her to share something that is special to her with us. On Christmas Eve the story ran in the paper. On December 20, our family headed out to CA for Christmas with my family. My little sister had surgery on her knee on the 21st. Christmas Eve my Aunts, Uncle and cousins came over for soup and presents. We always have a good time with them. Christmas day the girls were so excited. Santa was able to find us in CA again this and brought the girls lots of goodies. Kenna's big gifts were games for her DS and Bryn got an Ipod touch. The girls were spoiled rotten by grandma and grandpa. Mom made our family 'num num' for breakfast. It was Christmas just the way I like it. We watched movies all day and hung out as a family. I love it. Grandpa Jim and Grandma Gloria came out that afternoon and had dinner with us. Tyler had to head back to OK the day after Christmas. The girls and I stayed until December 31. We were able to go to my brother's apartment in San Diego and see where him and his wife live. We enjoyed a family dinner with them too. On Dec. 30 we had a little birthday party for Makenna's 7th birthday with my family. While we were there my parents took Kenna to Build-a-Bear to make a bear, in her case a dog, for her birthday. She picked out a german shepherd with a red and white dress. The rest of us walked around Downtown Disney while they did that. I love Disneyland and was not able to go this time so D. Disney was the next best thing. Kenna loved going to Woodranch for lunch. She hasn't quit talking about it. It was so good to see my family and we enjoyed Christmas.

Blogger

So much has happened that I haven't posted yet. When I went to post, blogger said I had used my limit of space and could not post more pictures. While I'm trying to figure it out, I don't want to waste updates on my family. I will continue to post things that happen even if I can't post the pictures yet. Stay tuned to see how I figure this thing out.

Dance Recitals

Today, Dec. 8, both girls had their first dance recital. It was their Christmas family celebration show. Makenna had her show at 9:30 (then her 1st bball game at 11) and Bryn had hers at 12:30. They sure looked super cute. Makenna was one of the only girls that remembered the dance and did it full out. Bryn did very well remembering her dance as well. I was a little disappointed in the level of technique that was taught not only to my girls, but to the older girls that performed as well. I love the people at the studio, but I'm not quite sure I want to keep them there. I might be studio shopping really soon. I was really proud of how well both girls did. Tyler's parents were able to come and support the girls as well.

Basketball

Makenna started her first season of basketball with practice on November 30. The first practice was not pretty. She has never played and I don't think she has ever really shot a basketball to the hoop. The second practice got cancelled and Kenna had her first game on Dec. 8. I was really nervous to see her play. At least the other girls on the team can make it to the rim. Although Makenna may not be able to make a basket yet, she knows how to steal a ball and dribble down court. She knew how to cover the player from the other team and get the ball from them. She really surprised me. I have to say that 6 year old girls basketball is pretty comical. I am excited to watch Makenna grow and learn in this sport. Ty and I were both very proud of how well she played today.

Thanksgiving 2012

We spent Thanksgiving at home this year. All of Tyler's family came into town. Danielle and her girls came in a couple days earlier than everyone else. Everyone else came in on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Friday night, before Thanksgiving, Jan had the girls over for a sleep over with their cousin Addison and Kimber. Tuesday we all met for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Wednesday, Kimber and I took pictures of the cousins. Getting all four girls to cooperate was definitely a difficult task. That night we had Steve's Ribs for dinner and hung out altogether as a family. Thursday, Thanksgiving day, Tyler and the boys played football. His sisters, the girls and I went to Bass Pro shop to take pictures with Santa. We had a wonderful meal made by my Mother-in-law. We had tons of desserts and spent the day lounging around. The girls all got to make gingerbread houses. Kenna and Bryn loved playing with their cousin Addie. Thursday night, Ty took the girls home and I hit black friday with Jenn and her mom. It was warm until about 8:50pm and then a cold front moved in and it was freezing. We went to Target, Wal-Mart, Kohls, Old Navy, Jack-in-the-Box, Office Max and Game Stop. We ended up getting home at 6am. I ended up with a few good things at great prices. Friday was a busy day. We met Tyler's family for lunch at Ted's. After lunch we headed to downtown OKC to take family pictures. After pictures we went back to Tyler's parents house to have a birthday party for Brynlee and Makenna. Bryn's birthday was on Sunday and since we had everyone in town, we went ahead and celebrated Kenna's too. It was a minnie mouse and zebra party. We did cookies instead of cake. It was all our family and the Jeffries family and Jenn's parents. On Saturday, Danielle and her family left. On Sunday we went to Ty's parents ward. Tyler played the piano in sacrament for Kimber to sing. Then we went back to Jan's for dinner. Kyle and Kimber left that night and Dallin and Keely left early the next morning. We had a good time visiting with our family.

Mary Poppins

My father-in-law has season tickets at the Civic Center. He invited to take Tyler, Me and the girls to go see Mary Poppins with him and my MIL. On November 7th, we took the girls to their second musical, Mary Poppins. Tyler ended up having to work so my best friend, Jenn, came with us. I have to say the play wasn't what I expected it to be. I enjoyed the movie much better. The girls did well for the first half of the play. At intermission they ended up falling asleep and slept the second half of the play. It was interesting, but definitely not as good as other musicals I had seen there. I am thankful to my father-in-law for sharing his tickets and love of musicals with us and the girls. We have future plans to see Westside Story and Lion King.

Voting

Let me just say, I hate politics. Yet this year, I was extremely excited to vote for some change. I do NOT agree with how the past 4 years have gone for our country and was not looking forward to what the next 4 years would bring us if there was NOT change. A lot of prayer went in to this election for me as I know it did for many others. I tried to remain optimistic about the situation. I thought most people could see that change needed to happen. I felt that Obama was voted over Bush 4 years ago because people wanted change, not because Obama was really better, but people were done with Bush and what he did/didn't do. That gave me the feeling that most people could see that even though Romney wasn't perfect, that Obama didn't do much and what he did do wasn't good. I, along with others in my community, were feeling good about the outcome of the election. I was over cleaning our old house the night of the announcement. I remember looking at my phone as I received a notification on my phone that Obama won. I just started crying. To be honest, he scares me. I just have to remember what the scriptures have said, the world will get a lot worse the closer it gets to the second coming. Although many of you might not agree with my feelings towards Obama, that's ok. This blog is kind of my journal and I want to write this and keep it for future use. I am hoping that the next 4 years won't be as scary as I think they will be and remember the Lord knows how things are supposed be and we are under his care.

My 28th Birthday

Back in April, tickets went on sale for Carrie Underwoods concert in Oklahoma for October 25. Tyler bought tickets for us to go as my birthday present, Thank You Ty!! Carrie Underwood is my favorite artist and I love her music. I was super excited to see her concert. I couldn't wait for my birthday to come to go see her. Tyler and I went down to bricktown and ate at Chelinos for dinner. Then we went over to the Chesapeake Energy Arena to hear Hunter Hayes and Carrie Underwood perform. It was an awesome concert and a great birthday present.
I also got to go out with my best friend, Jenn, to dinner and to a show. I'm lucky to have such good people in my life

Halloween 2012

We had many Halloween festivities this year. Jenn J. and I took the kids to the pumpkin patch. Our family went to storybook forest again this year with the Jeffries family. We went to our ward Trunk-or-Treat and the girls had a blast as usual. We went to Mitch Park for their Pumpkin Palooza. There were lots of crafts and pumpkin chunkin'. The girls had a lot of fun. On Halloween, we tried to carry-on the neighborhood chili and trick-or-treat party. We went to downtown for their annual trick-or-treat on the street long enough to do the loop and come home. We met friends at our house for chili, soup, homemade rootbeer (courtesy of Jenn) and trick-or-treating. It was great weather and lots of fun. Makenna was Merida from the movie Brave and Brynlee was Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Limo Ride

Makenna won a limo ride at school for their fall donation drive. Instead of doing a fundraiser with cookie dough or gift wrap, the school asked for monetary donations. The 15 students with the highest dollar amount of donations won a limo ride. Makenna was one of those students. On October 26, Kenna and 14 other students, went a with the principal to Pizza Hut for lunch and then to Braum's for ice cream. She was so excited and such a blast. Also, for certain amounts of donations the students were entered to win a razor scooter, Ipod touch, dvd player, bike and other things. Makenna was super lucky and won the IPod touch. A big thanks to her grandparents and great grandma that helped Makenna with her school donation drive.
