Outside!

Makenna loved eating the icicles!

Makenna had a hard time with wanting to keep her gloves on! She had a fun time jumping in the puddles and picking up pieces of ice! She was mad when I said it was time to come in!

Taken for Granted

I thought I was being good about getting foods that didn't need water or heat to eat them. I got bottles and jugs of water. I thought I was prepared for a power outage! The power went off last night for about 5 seconds and then came back on! That was around 9:45pm. Then I woke up at 5am to absolutely NO power. As I lay there in bed trying to figure out how we would survive the day I started to panic. I had water...but because I didn't have enough arms at the time...the water had gotten left in the trunk of the car. No big deal right??? No!!! HUGE deal. The ice storm had put about 3 inches of ice on our car and we could not enter the trunk. I thought about using warm water to melt the ice. But we had no water and no way to heat it. Then I worried about if we drove to my in-laws if we could get there safely with the ice on the roads. There aren't huge hills here, but there are little rolling hills that can get you into trouble on the ice. I laid in bed for an hour not being able to sleep trying to think of ways to keep my family warm. After praying about a million times....I heard the train come by and make tons of noise and then like magic...the power came back on. I was then able to fall back asleep! It's amazing the things we can take for granted. Tyler laughed at me because one of my 1st thoughts was, "if i have no water...then I can't brush my teeth!!" haha. But luckily we have power...for the moment at least! Hope you all are staying safe and warm today!!

Making Cookies

When my mom was here...we were going to make gingerbread cookies. We ran out of time. So since church was canceled today...I thought Makenna and I could have some good mother-daughter time! So we made the gingerbread cookies! Makenna helped me roll out the dough and cut the dough. She kept saying, "I help mommy!" It was so cute. She was also putting flour on herself too! haha!

She kept saying push when she was cutting the cookie dough!
Here are the decorated cookies. I am not really good at decorating...so here is the finished product! They tasted good and weren't burnt! I was very proud of myself...haha!

Watching T.V.

Makenna was laying on the floor watching Spongebob!!She didn't know I was taking this picture!
When she saw me with the camera....she pretended to be asleep! What a stinker!

Playing in the Kitchen!

Since grandma was here visiting...Makenna thinks she is allowed in the kitchen now. When my mom was here she let Makenna come in the kitchen and help her. Tyler and I usually put up the gate so she can't get into stuff. Well since my mom left she thinks it's still okay. So...we are trying to let her go in there and we are teaching her what she can and can't have. The past few days have been okay. We put some magnets on the fridge so that she could play with them while I was cooking dinner. The animal farm magnets also sing when you press them!! She was dancing all around the kitchen! It was so cute!

Bee Bee

Makenna loves her "bee bee" meaning her binky! She loves it! So she was even more excited when she found 2 of them at the same time!!

It's That Time of Year!!!

Oh my goodness!! It is COLD here! Today is our first round of ice for the season! Oklahoma doesn't get the pretty white fluffy, fun to play in snow :)! We get the freezing, rock hard, slippery ice! Today church was canceled due to slick roads. We have a huge ice storm moving in and the freezing rain from last night made the roads into one big ice skating rink! A lot of people don't really understand how bad these storms can be! Schools shut down...businesses shut down and activities are canceled. The ice gets really heavy on power lines and some people end up without power! So yesterday ...of course... Wal-mart was packed with people stocking up before the storm hit...because once it does...you can't get out...or at least you won't want to put yourself out on the roads!!! So I may be staying put until it thaws out. It is supposed to get worse tonight and in the morning but then move out tomorrow afternoon. So hopefully Tuesday it won't be too bad. Tyler also has his last final for the semester on Wednesday!!!

Silence...I Kill You!!!

Haha...inside joke huh mom!!

I had to work on Tuesday and Wednesday so Makenna stayed at home with my mom. My was doing the laundry (thanks mom) and had the basket on the floor. Makenna found her life jacket in the kitchen and put it on. She got it all strapped on and then climbed inside the baket and said "boat". She got all settled. Then after saying "boat" she kept saying "pool". She is a nut!

We went to Sams and bought some toliet paper. I took some out of the package and Makenna thought she would fill the open space in the bag. She climbed into the bag and fit her whole body in the space where 9 rolls of toliet paper used to be. It was sooo funny!!

Anyways...My mom came to visit this past week. She came in Sunday night and left this afternoon (friday). We had such a blast. Her and Makenna had a lot of together too! We went shopping, watched a movie, hung out and just laughed our heads off! Makenna enjoyed spending time with grandma. She espeically loved that grandma let her into things mom and dad don't. We keep her out of the kitchen and my mom let her in there the whole week!

Drama Queen!

Makenna woke up early that morning. I got her all dressed and ready to go over to grammy's house while I went to work. Tyler wanted to take her to Sonic to get tater-tots. Before she went out the door, I wanted to get a picture of her in her cute outfit. She thought I wasn't going to let her ride with daddy so she put on the sad and whiny face.....Then when she discovered all that I wanted was a picture....she put on her happy face!!

Curled Hair!

I love her new shoes!

I had some extra time that morning so I tried curling Makenna's hair with a curling iron. It looked okay for about 30 minutes. Once she took a nap all the curls went away!

A Nice Thanksgiving!

We hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving! We did. It was just a day of family and rest! We went over to Tyler's parents house to eat! We at around 12pm and had some yummy food! The best part is that Makenna took a nap while we ate so we could enjoy our dinner :)! The best part about Thanksgiving was that I got to spend some time with Tyler. With finals approaching in 1 week Tyler is never home. He is always studying. So yesterday he took the day off and hung out with us. Not one bit of studying. We even sat next to each other on the couch and watched "Live Free or Die Hard" and "Oceans 13." We even got to share a bowl of popcorn...although Makenna ate most of it. Tyler tried to take a nap on the couch, but he was woken up by Makenna thumping him on the head with her juice cup. She didn't want daddy to sleep! haha!
So today is the day of decorating for Christmas. Although I don't have much...I still love to get out the things I have a make the house feel like Christmas. We have a little 4 foot fake Christmas tree we put up every year. It will be interesting to see this year if our little 2 year old can keep her hands off! haha....good luck! hahaha!

I love my girl!!

I have the best daughter in the world!! The past 2 days I have felt really sick! Makenna has been so good to me. She was very concerned that I wasn't up playing with her like I normally do. Instead of crying and being a booger...she would come over and hug me and sit with me. She was super good and I was really impressed with her that she behaved so well for me while I layed on the couch. She kept saying, "Mommy...it's okay."
Tonight when we went to the store she wanted to take her baby doll along. She kept saying, "Mommy, baby cold!" She wanted her baby to be wrapped in a blanket to go outside. She held her baby in car and would keep hugging her and kissing her. She is a good little mommy to her baby!

T.V. Pals!

Haha... Winnie the Pooh's Great Adventures movie was on today on Disney Channel! I didn't know if Makenna would like it and much to my surprise she did! She sat on my lap and watched very intently. When Pooh got stuck in the the tree she got all upset and started screaming, "Pooh stuck mommy!" haha. Then when he fell out of the tree she got really concerned and said, "Pooh fall mommy!" She was so concerned about what was happening with Pooh! So needless to say she really likes Pooh Bear!
Then also...she loves to watch Spongebob Squarepants! She asks, "Where's Bob?" She can sit for hours...if I let her...and watch Spongebob. On one of the episodes they were blowing bubbles and when the bubble went away she would say, "Where's bubble mommy?"
Her last favorite show is the Doddlepops! She loves Mo! She always asks, "Where's Mo?" In the morning when she wakes up her first question is, "Where's Daddy?" then "Where's Mo?" haha. When it came on this morning she started saying....Do Do Do Do....that is how they singe their opening song. It was so cute and she started dancing and saying, "Where's Mo?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This was Makenna's outfit for the daytime!
These are out neighbors! Starting on the left, Mia, Meredith, Maddy and Makenna! All M's. They don't have any brothers so their dad had them all dress up as boys. It was cute. Mia was just a little boy, Meredith was a hunter and Maddy was a baseball player. We like to hang out with their family!
Baby "RyRy" This is Krystal and Ryan's 3 month old baby boy...Ryan!
Makenna and Gwen!
We had a good Halloween. This morning Makenna and I went to playgroup. Tyler...of course...had school. Then tonight our neighbors stopped by to trick-or-treat! Then we went to downtown Edmond, where they had a festival. We met our friends Krystal and Ryan and their kids Gwen and Ryan. Makenna and Gwen had a fun time going to the stores getting candy! There was also a big blow up slide and Ryan and Tyler took the girls down that. They thought that was pretty cool. Then the Jolley family came back to our place for some chili and to hang out! The girls both got a sucker out of their candy bag. Then they both wanted ice. Haha. It was a good night!

Attitude!

Soo...I thought I had awhile before my child would start trying to tell me what to do! NO...I don't! haha. She has already started to tell me what to do and what she is going to do. Yesterday she was talking on the phone to my mom and I told her it was my turn to talk to grandma. She looked right at me and said, "No mommy. My turn!" I was like ...What??? She also likes to tell me to "Go away." Last night we were playing with her in her room before we put her down to bed. Somehow she spotted her bathing suit and had to put it on and kept saying pool! We told her that we couldn't go to the pool because it was bed time and she was mad! She wouldn't let us take off her swimsuit so I tried putting her p.j's on over it. I managed to get her pants on, but she wouldn't let me put her p.j. top on. So my kid slept in her swimsuit! What a crazy little squirt!

Trunk-or-Treat

This is Makenna and her friend Maylee! We went to our church Halloween party. Makenna looks so mean in this picture. She was mad because she thought Maylee's mom had extra candy in her bag. She wanted more candy and Angie didn't have any. So she wasn't happy when we tried to take the picture! Kenna handed me her sucker and was searching for better candy. We left before the actual trunk-or-treat because Makenna was too tired. She did get to play some games and bounce in the bounce house! I will add some more pictures of Kenna tomorrow!

My Birthday!

Ice cream cake and a tortilla....yum! haha.
Me and my girl!
Tyler bought me an ice cream cake from Baskin and Robbins!

Yesterday was a good day! Makenna and I went to playgroup. Then my mother-in-law took Kenna and I out to lunch to celebrate. Tyler had school all day. When he got home he had an ice cream cake with him. He sang Happy Birthday to me! I got phone calls from all my brothers and sister...which was nice! Well I got an e-mail from Michael...but that is still as good! So all in all...I had a great 23rd B-day!!!

My baby girl!

Kenna loves her new boots. It's hilarious. She loves putting them on and jumping up and down. She acts like she is jumping in puddles. Her hair is also getting long enough that I could put it in a mini ponytail. I love it!

Fires!

A lot of people are asking about my family in California with all these fires. Thanks for all of your concern! At this time they are not in the fire danger. They do have a lot of smoke and ash at their house. The Santa Ana winds blow pretty hard down there. They have closed some roads and my dad wasn't able to go to work one day this week. My best friend's husband also had trouble getting to his job in San Diego. It's all a little scary. But right now...they aren't in the fires way. Thanks!!

Bows, Bows and more Bows!!

Okay...I am totally excited now! I went bow shopping today for Makenna. There were a lot of bows out there but none of them matched what I was looking for. So I did some research online and learned how to make some bows. I went shopping and got the supplies and made my first bow tonight. I am so excited. This is totally going to be my new hobby. There are so many good ideas out there for bow making and it is so simple. I can't wait to start making Makenna cute bows!! The bow above matched this new fall dress Makenna got! Yea!!! It was so much fun to make too! :)

I just had to!

Haha...some of you are probably wondering why I made to new blog! Well ...it's simple...I was looking for a new template and found spongebob! I just had to use it. Spongebob is a part of our family now. Makenna knows how to say his name, "Sp-a-bob." He has been a joke in our family for awhile! I think it goes perfect for our family! I am so excited! ~Who lives in a pineapple under the sea!!!~

Scared Stiff!

I am deathly afraid of spiders. When I see one I get so scared that I pretty much become stiff. I start breathing really hard and I can't move. They gross me out so much! Well I was sitting on the couch for a bit relaxing while Makenna took a nap. I then decided I should get up and do some house cleaning while I didn't have a shadow around! While I was cleaning I noticed a small little black thing crawling on the floor. It was really really tiny so I grabbed my shoe and reluctantly squished it. I didn't want to get too close to it. Not too bad....so I thought. I thought that bug was bad until I continued to pick up the house. Makenna had a pair of her socks laying on the floor that she had taken off before I put her down for a nap. I went over to pick the socks up and noticed a HUGE brown and black hairy spider sitting right inside the sock. I jumped about 5 feet backwards and instantly became stiff. So I called my dad. After talking to him for about 10 minutes and watching the spider...my dad convinced me to kill it. I didn't want to use a shoe because I would have to get too close. So my dad suggested a frying pan. He said once you hit it to continue to smack it until I was sure it was dead. So not wanting to do this at all...I ran into the kitchen and got a pan. I took a deep breathe and then smacked the spider. I rubbed the pan over top of it hoping the first hit killed it. I was wrong. I lifted up the pan and out jumped a spider at me. I about had a heart-attack. I then smacked it about 15 times and rubbed him into my carpet...I know...gross. I then grabbed the vacuum and sucked it up. There was no way I was touching this one. Man....I wish Tyler was at home to have taken care of it!

Tyler's New Blog

Tyler has started a blog of his own now. www.lawschoolsurvivor.blogspot.com. So if any of you are interested in reading what is going on in his world or wondering what a first year law student has to say....go ahead and take a peek!

California!

Makenna and I got to travel to California this past weekend. Just for fun! Tyler had to stay back once again for school! One day we will be able to take a trip together as a family! We had a good time though! I got to eat and In-n-Out and have some Sees chocolate! Makenna had a fun time playing with her grandparents and her aunt and uncle! She would call Tyler - Ty Ty and Christy - Kis-sy. She had a fun time laughing at uncle ty ty! I got to go watch my little brothers football game Friday. My sister watched Makenna for me. It was so cold at the game! It was nice to have some homemade chili before though! Can't wait until Christmas so we can see everyone again!

Tables!

Makenna loves to crawl under tables. So she would crawl underneath my mom's kitchen table and sit on the bars of the chair!

Great Grandpa Jim and Great Grandma Gloria!

Reading books with Grandma and Grandpa!
Makenna would stand on grandma's toes and say "Ow." Then she would hold up her own foot and say OW! It was pretty funny. Well not for grandma because it was her toes that were stepped on!
