During Halloween there is an event put on by the city called Story book forest. The kids get to walk through a 'forest' and stop at fairy tales and receive candy. At the end of the trail they can play games, go on a hayride and roast marshmallows and hot dogs. For FHE last Monday we were able to go with Tyler's parents and his sister's family. The girls had a good time and loved getting candy! They all looked cute in their costumes!

Aww...

Today it was really rainy here in OK. So we decided, along with the rest of the state :), to go to the science museum with some friends. I did not take along my camera unfortunately. The girls ran around and had a lot of fun. We ate lunch with our friends and went to the Science Live show. We got to watch things explode! We didn't leave there until about 3:45pm. I didn't want to nap the girls when I got home because it was so late in the day. But they were both exhausted. I turned on Beauty and the Beast for them and I started doing some dishes. When I went into check on them they were cuddling on the couch watching the movie! It was one of the moments that makes you just go...awww! :)

Waiting for surgery
At the hospital on October 13, 2009
After surgery...still smiling!
One year ago, today,
- I was scared to death.
- I couldn't sleep.
- My little girl did not have thumbs.
- I handed Bryn off to a nurse in hopes she would be well taken care of. (she was)
- I watched my little girl cry in pain because she didn't understand.
- I spent the night in the hospital so she could be watched over.
- I wasn't completely sure that her surgery would work.
- I was more thankful for the Priesthood in my life than ever before.
- I watched Makenna grow as a support to her sister.

Today
- I have since watched Bryn have another surgery.
- She uses both of her thumbs completely like anyone born with thumbs would!!!!
- I am no longer scared.
- My little girl has 2 working thumbs!
- I am a complete believer in pollicization surgery.
- I am thankful for supportive family and friends who helped us through Bryn's surgery!
- I am thankful for a great dr. who could perform such a surgery!
- I am thankful for Makenna and her willingness to help Bryn learn how to use her hands better

I can't believe that Bryn had her first surgery 1 year ago! I was so nervous her thumb would not work. It took 3 months for it to completely move and work, but now it is working awesome. Her scar looks amazing and she uses her hands like any other kid her age!

Tyler and I have been so proud of Bryn. She has been using her thumbs so well. Here are a few pictures we took while eating dinner.

Dress-Up

Sisters
Princess Bryn

Princess Kenna

After conference today the girls wanted to play dress-up. So they put on lots of jewelry and grabbed a purse. Bryn was so intent on walking in those shoes. She walked slow, but she did it. The other day the girls and I had our own little spa time. I should have taken pictures, but I forgot. I painted both of the nails and put make-up on them. Makenna was so excited that I told her she could wear mascara. Gorgeous girls!
